Fools Gold
A night of live music, confessional storytelling and performance.
Conjuring the dark energy of the post-punk era, Kerensa Diball, Bridget Mackey and Romy Vager (RVG) interrogate their personal mythologies through the figures and narratives that have influenced them as women.
Romy Vager is a singer-songwriter and front woman of band RVG who moved to Melbourne at the age of 17 because she was weird and in love and because she had heard that The Birthday Party were from here. Kerensa, arrived at the age of 21 seeking her Tom Verlaine and Bridget moved for a Neighbours audition and stayed for independent theatre.
Alongside autobiographical narratives, Kerensa, Bridget and Romy appropriate rock and roll archetypes, to unravel the complex relationship between personal mythology and our ‘authentic’ selves, exploring expectations of womanhood, success, authenticity and performance. Part autobiographical theatre, part live music gig: Fools Gold weaves the captivating music of Romy Vager with sometimes humorous, always honest storytelling and lo-fi glory.
